Israel Says It Assassinated Iran's Most Senior Military Commander
Source: NY Times
Since Israel began bombing Iran on Friday, it has killed at least 11 senior generals while striking Iranian nuclear sites and missile launchers, in what it calls an effort to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
On Tuesday morning, the Israeli military said it had killed Maj. Gen. Ali Shadmani, describing him as the most senior military commander in Iran. He was appointed to his post four days ago, replacing a general who was killed by Israel on the first day of hostilities.

(7,438 posts)Israel got theirs on the down low (so did a LOT of other countries). Iran justified theirs by saying peak oil was running out and they needed to diversify. As long as the Ayatollahs are in charge in Iran, and Bibi in charge of Israel, I don't trust either of them. We just allowed most of the world to blow up everyone in MAD, and for the most part they were responsible members of the nuke states. But times change, and many of us could see this type of thing happening back in the 70's. The only people I feel sorry for is the civilians of Israel and the civilians of Iran. If only governments could fight each other and not drag their populace into the mess to die for nothing but someone's land and honor. I think the original tribal fighting had it all over us. Two chieftains fight it out until one is dead. They didn't *have* to waste the blood and treasure of their countries - only the ones who instigated the war. All we're doing these days is ensuring that blood feuds go on for many more generations (if we all live, that is).
