Trump announces Israel and Iran have agreed on a ceasefire

President Trump announced Monday that Israel and Iran have agreed on a "Complete and Total" ceasefire, a move he said would end a more than week-long conflict between the two countries.
The ceasefire will start in about six hours, and after 12 hours, the "War will be considered, ENDED," Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social, indicating that the ceasefire would begin at midnight ET.
"Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World," the president said.

Reuters reported, "Trump declared a ceasefire minutes after each side threatened new attacks." And "CNN reported shortly before Trump's post that Iran had not received any ceasefire proposal and saw no reason for one, citing a senior Iranian official." And, "Trump appeared to suggest that Israel and Iran would have some time to complete any missions that are underway, at which point the ceasefire would begin in a staged process." And , "There was no immediate comment from Israel on Trump's statement."
Guess I'll have to wait and see.

TEHRAN, Jun. 24 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reacted to the claims made by US President Donald Trump on a ceasefire between Iran and the Israeli regime.
"As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around," Araghchi wrote on X.
"As of now, there is NO "agreement" on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards," he stressed.
"The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later," he concluded.

And I can't but help feel this has all been nothing more than a few acts out of a very bad play.
