Trump awards medals to the Kennedy Center honorees in an Oval Office ceremony

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Saturday presented medals to the 2025 Kennedy Center honorees during a ceremony in the Oval Office, hailing the slate of artists he was deeply involved in choosing as “perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class” ever assembled.

This year’s recipients are actor Sylvester Stallone, singers Gloria Gaynor and George Strait, the rock band Kiss and actor-singer Michael Crawford.

Trump said the group of “incredible people” represent the “very best in American arts and culture” and that, “I’ve been a fan of all of them.”

“This is a group of icons whose work and accomplishments have inspired, uplifted and unified millions and millions of Americans,” said a tuxedo-clad Trump. “This is perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class of Kennedy Center Honorees ever assembled.”

there is not a classical musician among this group. Every other year there has been. Probably the Tangerine Toddler doesn't like classical music.

she always has it DVR'd so I can get to see it! We've seen a lot of them. Usually we like/love at least one honoree, but usually several each year.

I guess not this year. 😑 😬

It'll probably be cooking shows instead. Which we enjoy.

How pathetic is Trump? He said “This is perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class of Kennedy Center Honorees ever assembled.”

There have literally been dozens of individuals honored in the past who were more accomplished and renowned on their own than this entire class combined.

Look at the classes of 2007 thru 2009. Every single individual in those classes was more accomplished and renowned than this years class combined. TI woulld consider each of those classes as 100 times more accomplished collectively than this years class.

2007 Leon Fleisher, Steve Martin, Diana Ross, Martin Scorsese, and Brian Wilson
2008 Morgan Freeman, George Jones, Barbra Streisand, Twyla Tharp, and The Who
2009 Mel Brooks, Dave Brubeck, Grace Bumbry, Robert De Niro, and Bruce Springsteen

Trump has nothing to do with the arts; he is a philistine.

This is list of some of the classical musicians and composers invited to the Kennedy White House:

Pablo Casals (cellist)
Igor Stravinsky (composer)
Leonard Bernstein (composer and conductor)
Isaac Stern (violinist)
Samuel Barber (composer)
Aaron Copland (composer)
Gian Carlo Menotti (composer)
