But a big-name Republican could soon be waiting in the wings. Term-limited Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) has reportedly been floated as a replacement after he leaves office in mid-January. CNN previously reported Youngkin “expressed more interest in an economic or business portfolio, rather than one focused on immigration” but would still be “excited by the prospect” of any Cabinet post.

Youngkin is a smarmy little twat that needs to have his ass handed to him. He'd fit right in with this administration. He's a "yes man" and would eagerly replace Noem if it keeps him in the spotlight.

I know Youngkin is looking at Warner in 2026 and possibly on the national ticket but he really does bring anything. He ran a fantastic campaign especially the VA GOP ranked choice voting in the primary and, as I said, not really touching Trump. He won Virginia due to his good campaign and MacAuliffe’s horrible one. He won by 63,688 votes out of 3.3 M votes - less than 2%.

He's concerned the republicans could lose 2-3 House seats in Virginia in the 2026 election. Right now the Democrats have a 6-5 edge, but at least 3 republican seats are vulnerable, having won their seats by less than 10%.
He hopes putting former governor Youngkin in a high visibility position may help keep those seats. Also, Noem is getting too much bad publicity for his immigration roundup.
