It's sardonically funny that Vance considers himself the heir apparent to the GOP nomination in '28. He doesn't realize that cults of personality don't work that way. His perpetual scowl and trump-inspired petulant behavior might garner maybe 5% support.

I was working my senior move job and one of the men that worked in the building as a maintenance man came into the apartment of a senior white man to fix a broken railing and the old bigot called him the N word. The maintenance apologized to the man saying he was the only one available. Our crew called our boss and the three of us, myself, and the other two co workers who are gay walked off the job. Luckily, we were there only 1 hour and took the moving materials.

We apologized to the maintenance man for his being treated so rudely.

Now, as to certain aspects of the legacy of the white race here in the US... well...

I have allowed a certain humility in that regard. Doubly so given my family shame which is tied up in that legacy. My mother thinks I am crazy for feeling anything about our ancestral involvement in those events. Well, I do, lady. We should not have been involved at all. As far as I can tell, 'we' did not even own any enslaved people ourselves, so why were we even supporting that side, ya know?

Conversely (and hypocritically, I suppose), I am acquainted with the direct line descendant of a major historical Confederate figure, who was a pre-teen child when I was around him. I always felt very bad for him as I was well aware of the potential public blowback should he be caught out in public and have his lineage revealed. I made sure to never bring it up around him (although I had a few conversations with his parents about it), and he was a bright, and smart kind whose best friends were an African American and a Mexican American. He did not seem to know or care about his 'family'. I always hoped that he stayed that way.

There are times when being defined by one's family is a good thing.

Then, there are times when it is most certainly not.

When seniors decide to move to senior communities we go in and help them downsize and pack the stuff they want to move to their new residence. Then we go back in and haul away trash and old furniture and donate anything that could be reused and we make sure they get the donation receipts for their taxes.

Sometimes we get difficult clients like the guy I mentioned, a snobby rich person who thinks they know everything and are bossy and the best seniors who are grateful for our service and happy after we pack them and unpack in their new homes. The pay is good and sometimes the seniors give us tips. This past week I had a two day job where I packed a lady’s stuff she wanted to take ( usually more kitchen stuff or massive book collections) the physical movers come and transported the furniture and boxes we packed of their items and we unpack them at their new residences. I got $100 tip! And one lady I worked with a week before that was a snob, had more stuff then she needed to move and was very difficult gave me a massive $20 tip ! As we’re unpacking we usually know the stuff we put away will never be used again! But I get they need their stuff !

I've never heard anyone apologize for beinh white either. Rethugs are so good at "solving" problems that don't exist. Just like how "nobody was allowed to say Merry Christmas." They love playing victim.

I never felt the need to apologize for being white because I did my damndest to meet and treat everybody for who they were. I csnt say with absolute assurance I always acted correctly... but I always tried.

And through the years, white or not I never took home a paycheck equal to the guy working next to me who was taking my direction. Thus my SS doesn't approach my male coworkets... and I took a lot more crap from coworkers than they did... especially since it was the beginning of the Info Age.

All I ever wanted was commiserate pay and recognition. The only chance I came close to was while in the military and Fed service. And now they've stripped that from 2/3s of the American people. I have news for Vance... thats not something to shout with pride. It's a darkness for which he should be utterly ashamed... if he were a normal human being.

Evil seems to triumph in the short run... but in the long run, people want peace, opportunity, friendship and cooperation. These "always the victim magas" will eventually be dealt with. And they definitely are not going to like it.
