Trump to House Republicans: If we don't win midterms, I will get impeached

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON, Jan 6 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Republicans must win the 2026 midterm elections or else he will get impeached by Democrats.

"You gotta win the midterms 'cause, if we don't win the midterms, it's just gonna be - I mean, they'll find a reason to impeach me," Trump said at a retreat for House Republican lawmakers in Washington. "I'll get impeached."

The president urged his fellow Republicans to fight in a more unified fashion on issues ranging from gender politics to healthcare and election reforms, and to sell his policies to a public angry about cost of living issues.

Trump's agenda is on the line in November's elections, when all the seats in the House of Representatives and a third of the Senate's seats will be contested.

Do to deaths and a resignation. And another Republican was in a serious car accident and is in the hospital and he is 80 yrs old, so there are doubts he will be working anytime soon , if at all, so that puts them at 216 for right now.
With only 10 months until the midterms it seems unlikely to change much in that time

So the proper term is a "hung Congress"
Neither political party can pass their agenda without help from the other.

A new Speaker would require a majority vote and I doubt, especially with only 10 months to go, that there is any sense of cooperation between the parties.
Now, if we win all of those respective special elections we would have the majority and could elect a new Speaker.

Republicans think they have any sort of chance of not losing? In the Bondi post he thought was only a DM, he expressed angst over the impeachments. They mean something to him and if congress has to impeach him everyday until 2028, it is important to history and the future for anyone considering going down his path.

Also, reform the SCOTUS. A new majority has a lot of clean up ahead of itself.

Vet and “cure” their registrations, and document well in advance..
Personal contact three times in the run-up.
See votes cast legally from day one of polling.
Mail-ins on first day of mail-in voting, complete one week prior to polls closing.
Observers at in-person polls. Video documentation.

That is the last thing we need to be talking about now.. There is no scenario where we can get a conviction in the Senate before Trump dies of natural causes. Zero possibility. And bringing this up will only piss off Republicans who might otherwise be willing to listen to some reasonable talk from us..

I swear, we are our own worst enemy most of the time. If we want to talk about something, it should be the 25th Amendment That won't happen either, but that is totally under Republican control, and most people can see that Trump is not well mentally. By shining the light on the 25th, the issue becomes Trump's wellness rather than Democrats wanting revenge.

A 25th Amendment solution actually benefits Republicans more than Democrats, so we can call for that from a position of doing the right thing for the sake of the country.

"find something"? There are myriad things he's done already that merit impeachment.

Building concentration camps here & whisking people off the street to private gulags abroad, kidnapping the leader of another country & taking over that country - these are just to start with. His whole cabinet is not only incompetent but dangerous. Hiring Stephen Miller should be an impeachable offense in my book.

He fears he will be locked up amongst fraudsters, con artists, law breakers and kiddie fiddlers, and he is way above that sort of riff-raff.
Not his type at all.

Besides, accessing his regular medical regime of drugs and nutritional requirements would be a problem.
