DOJ, FBI sued on eve of Jan. 6 to 'shed light' on top officials' emails and texts about Trump pardons, 'abuse' of power

On the eve of the fifth anniversary of Jan. 6, a watchdog group known for filing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuits brought a new case against U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi's DOJ and Director Kash Patel's FBI in search of top officials' communications records about President Donald Trump's blanket pardons for his supporters and the "abuse of government power."

American Oversight, a left-leaning nonprofit, filed the case on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, seeking emails and texts that could "shed light" on "senior officials'" communications behind the scenes about Jan. 6, "efforts to undermine certification of the 2020 election," and "attempts to erase consequences, including through pardons, for those involved."

Those messages, the suit said, "are critical to understanding how the federal government has investigated — and attempted to revise and whitewash — one of the gravest assaults on American democracy in the nation's history."

"In furtherance of its mission to promote government transparency and accountability, American Oversight filed requests with FBI and DOJ under the Freedom of Information Act, seeking these officials' text messages and emails regarding January 6, the Capitol attack, efforts to undermine certification of the 2020 election, clemency for the rioters, and abuse of government power to seek retribution against Trump's perceived political enemies," the complaint said.

The Genius here is they’re SO ass-deep in dirty tricks and wrong-doing the whole Government will be totally bent to their will before any meaningful investigations can be concluded before they declare Martial Law and Cancel ALL future Elections.
DEEP STATE… and guess who’s it’s always been.
SCOTUS is wholly owned by MAGA now, with a couple people who can only suffer the sight of the end of Democracy.
Heritage Foundation.
“Citizens United” (I argued that a Citizen MUST have a Heartbeat, but it turned out… no, just an overwhelming stash of Cash.)

...this egregious travesty of justice.

They could say they were being bi-partisan and the reports would never see the light of day.

There once was a watchdog well-schooled,
By FOIA it often has ruled.
On Jan Sixth’s fifth year,
It asked DOJ dear
What pardons and power had fueled.

American Oversight by name,
Filed suit in D.C. all the same.
They sought texts and emails,
Through bureaucratic trails,
To see who behind curtains played games.

They asked what top officials had said,
In messages typed late in bed,
On certs undermined,
And pardons designed
To soften the blows that were spread.

The filing declared with alarm,
This wasn’t procedural or warm:
It warned history’s scars
Were being revised in memos and bars,
To whitewash democracy’s harm.

For transparency’s sake, they insist,
No record should quietly be missed—
From rioters’ grace
To retribution’s trace,
They want power’s abuse on the list.
