Trump says he'll attend the White House Correspondents' Association dinner

Source: Politico

President Donald Trump announced on Monday he plans to attend this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner for the first time as president, setting up a potentially dramatic confrontation with members of the media he has regularly attacked. Trump wrote on social media he accepted the WHCA’s invitation in part to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary and also to make the event the “MOST SPECTACULAR DINNER, OF ANY KIND, EVER!”

Trump has boycotted the event every year he’s served as president, bucking the tradition that many presidents have observed of attending and giving light-hearted remarks that poke fun at the Washington press corps and other public officials.

“Because the Press was extraordinarily bad to me, FAKE NEWS ALL, right from the beginning of my First Term, I boycotted the event, and never went as Honoree,” Trump said. “However, I look forward to being with everyone this year. Hopefully, it will be something very Special.”

Attendance at the April 25 dinner would present the president with an opportunity to further wage battle against the White House press corps. Since he returned to office, the Trump administration sought to ban the Associated Press from covering events at the White House, filed lawsuits against multiple media outlets he views as covering him unfavorably, pushed for funding cuts to public media, revoked press credentials for journalists covering the Pentagon, and used the Federal Communications Commission to exert pressure on media companies.

... or he'll just get mad and pout and invent some reason to "snub" the event. He's a man-baby who ALWAYS does this.

would a self-respecting journalist (yeah, I know) sit down with Francisco Franco's reincarnation after calling the press "the enemy of the people"?

This degenerate imbecile who can no longer discern reality is leading this country into hell.

Thanks to all the idiots that voted third party, the idiots who couldn’t be bothered to vote and the biggest thanks to every shithead that wouldn’t vote for a woman. Fuck all of you.

11. The Press Should Boycott

Hopefully, most of the mainstream press refuses to attend. Why should any legitimate member of the press attend this event? All this man has done is attack the free press. What can they expect from this man except more attacks? Just leave him with an empty room, or a room full of his sycophant friends and admirers.

Trump's fluffers searched far and wide for conservative, Trump ass kissing comedians, but there were none to be found. Only those who will praise the glory of their god and leader will be allowed the speak.

what would be the point of him attending?
MS might get a few jabs in, but then he'd file suit and tell the FCC to yank their license anyway.

Hair Furor won't attend. He's already dismantled the "Free" Press. Why waste his precious time?
