Bondi Does Another End Run To Keep Political Appointee Attorney

Source: crooksandliars.com

Pam Bondi once again did an end run to keep one of the Trump regime's political appointees in as "First Assistant US Attorney."

By Chris capper Liebenthal — March 19, 2026

A year ago, Brad Schimel became an unemployed bum after losing his bid for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Instead of going out and getting a real job, he pulled some strings with his old pal AG Pam Bondi, who appointed him as interim US Attorney for Eastern Wisconsin, because who needs competence when you have cronyism?

Just before Schimel's 120-day stint was to end, he learned that the federal judges chose not to allow him to keep the job permanently, in a large part due to the urging of Sen Tammy Baldwin, who didn't like his partisanship and lack of impartiality:

In a statement, Baldwin noted her Republican counterpart, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, raised concerns in 2022 that the U.S. justice system was "increasingly populated with political partisans who are incapable of administering justice equally."

"I share those exact concerns today," Baldwin said. "I never thought a clearly partisan actor like Brad Schimel should be a top federal prosecutor in our state to begin with, and he certainly shouldn't get an extension for this job."...............

Judge Susan Crawford greets supporters in Madison, Wis., Tuesday after winning a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Crawford defeated Brad Schimel, who received financial support from Elon Musk and an endorsement from President Donald Trump. Her victory means that the nonpartisan court's 4-3 liberal majority will remain in place.

The race was projected to be the most expensive state supreme court election ever by The Brennan Center for Justice, a think tank and democracy advocacy group. Spending by the candidates and their supporters reportedly topped $100 million.

The money fueled a bruising election cycle. That's in part because of the national stakes in the race, which was seen as a measure of voter sentiment and an early indication of how one swing state would respond to the involvement of Trump-aligned figures.

Schimel told his supporters he had conceded. When some in the crowd yelled, "No," or said the Democrats had cheated, he answered, "No, no, no, no. You gotta accept the results." He played bass in his classic rock band before and after his concession.

As of 11:15 p.m. local time, 94 percent of the votes had been counted and Crawford was ahead 54.4% to Schimel's 45.6%. Turnout was high for a judicial election.......
