Someone needs to pull a large human size contractor bag over his head, throughly tape it shut, from top to bottom by wrapping it in duct tape, and then chuck it in an appropriate place once and for all.

Not every decision in the world has to be made by Darnold Trmp. But he keeps sticking his big ass into every decision, no matter how important or how trivial, just to keep himself in the news and look busy -- which he is not. He's squandering time on wasteful, pointless, harmful, or just plain inhumane offenses against the country and the world at large, when there are SO MANY better things a sane, rational, honorable person (i.e. NOT Trmp) could find to do.

Psychologically, this kind of makes sense. I know when I have a problem I can't deal with, I'll take on less important projects or clean the house to distract myself seeking small productivity wins in the face of it. "Not sure where this money's coming from for this surprise medical bill, hon, but look how I made the bathroom sparkle!"

... as his mind deteriorates, he reverts to what he knows best/is most comfortable talking about -- building and renovations. He has been doing this his whole 2nd term.

I saw this behaviour in my father as he slipped away. he was a lawyer, so he loved to talk law and his old cases, even if he had no idea to whom he was speaking. It was his mental comfort zone.

Building/renovating is Trump's mental comfort zone - at least in public. I imagine in private he goes to his other mental comfort zone -- sexism/racism and hitting on anyone with a XX chromosome under 35.

I fully expect him to talk more and more about these sorts of project.

He could do worse to our nation - and is.

Don't forget to lay in a supply of cheap plastic trim from Home Depot, spray paint it gold, and glue it on every exterior surface.

... I certainly don't trust TSF and I don't trust the "preservationists" either. They have an agenda and they want to treat this ugly (Mark Twain) monstrosity (Eisenhower) as if it were the Mona Lisa.

They renovated and painted the top of the clock tower (a 5 year project), although that top is mostly iron.

That is some pile of granite! or of whatever!

The style reminds me of one of those fake "village" or "small town" suburbs that is around where I live: Maple Lawn. Not quite as overboard, but still reminiscent. The area gives me the creeps. It's like a Walt Disney version of the Stepford Wives.


The stacks and layers of columns also reminds me or another disturbing low-brow architectural quirk - Note the "classical" columns stuck onto the facade at the top of the thinner brick structure - What the hell are they doing there? It's some sort of decorative gimcrack gimmick, and they stuck them on high so they can be seen from aways away. Very hokey.

.... keeping an even, uniform tone over the natural stone facade is time consuming and expensive. Much harder than just slapping on some paint. The paint will be easier and less expensive to keep up.

Other than that, the building looks dilapidated and decrepit. If the renderings are accurate, it looks better painted white. It's still pretty ugly, but an improvement.

They dont sand it down to keep it even toned or anything, its just granite. Its not supposed to be painted at all. Its a really cool looking building, painting it will be tantamount to turning it into a wedding cake looking monstronity though. Its not dilapidated or decrepit at all, you are falling for trumps propaganda.

Look deep enough at anything the WH does and the grift will be located within.

Stone isn't wood. If you have stone, you are talking a porous material and when the U.S. Capitol rotunda dome was renovated 10 years ago, the parts that were stone had to have special paint (most of the rest was wood or cast iron that had it's own special paint).

I used to work in the neighborhood. I loved the historic look of it. Naturally he has to go and fuck it up.

President Donald Trump’s plan to clean, repoint, and repaint the Eisenhower Executive Office Building near the White House would violate several laws and must be stopped, a lawsuit says.

Painting the building’s gray stone facade white, without complying with the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act, would cause permanent harm to the National Historic Landmark, Cultural Heritage Partners PLLC and other preservationists told the US District Court for the District of Columbia in a Nov. 14 complaint.

Cultural Heritage, a law firm committed to protecting historic places, says the building is in the National Register of Historic Places and serves as the anchor of the National Historic Landmark historic district near the White House.

On or about Nov. 10, the suit says, Trump stated during an interview that he planned to paint the building white and that it needed cleaning and pointing, as well.

But this plan, if it advanced, would run afoul of NEPA, which requires federal agencies to assess the environmental consequences of proposed actions before making decisions that will affect the environment, the complaint says...................

Should you paint slate?

Otherwise, this could be F47's single most normal undertaking since 2015. A bit on the OCD side of unnecessary micromanagement tasks for a president, but frankly I prefer him operating in this domain of picking out shades of paint for the facade of an office building compared to actually trying to handle serious shit himself, so something's gotta give. Somehow, this relatively simple project is going to break bad, and we will suffer. It is the way.
