White House says Iran deal could take days
Source: msn/Axios

The White House doesn't expect an agreement to end the war with Iran Sunday and thinks it could take several days for the deal's approval by Iran's leadership, including Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, a senior U.S. official said in a briefing with reporters.
Why it matters: While U.S. officials are optimistic that a deal will be signed within days, they also acknowledge it has not been finalized and could still fall apart. "We are in a very good place but there are ways in which the deal can be undermined," a senior U.S. official said.
The deal would avoid an escalation of the war and decrease the pressure on the global oil supply. However, it's unclear whether it will lead to a lasting peace agreement that also addresses President Trump's nuclear demands. President Trump told his "representatives not to rush into a deal" with Iran, he announced Sunday on Truth Social, saying "both sides must take their time and get it right." He said the U.S. naval blockade will "remain in full force and effect until an agreement is reached, certified, and signed."
State of play: The senior Trump administration official said there are still details "to work out," but the "slow and opaque" nature of Iran's decision-making system could delay an agreement by another few days.

(77,904 posts)David Shuster @DavidShus... 2h S: According to Al Jazeera, the Iran deals includes unfreezing billions in Iranian funds, lifting U.S. blockade, pulling U.S. forces away, reopening strait of Hormuz though with tolls to Iran, and allowing Iran to keep its enriched uranium. This would be a total U.S. surrender.

(77,904 posts)Yes, as David Schuster correctly states this is a total U.S. Surrender what % of Americans will
receive and correctly process that information? Trump had to go to military school in order to
avoid being caught up in some kind of juvenile corrections system because of his assaults on
a smaller child and a teacher and that he flunked out of Fordham too what % of Americans know
about that?
Powerful forces installed him and are still protecting him because he is their useful idiot.

(33,368 posts)Actual quote from this AP article:
If the result of all that is to be an Iranian regime still run by Islamists who chant death to America now receiving billions of dollars, being able to enrich uranium & develop nuclear weapons, and having effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, then that outcome would be a disastrous mistake, Cruz wrote Saturday on the social media platform X. It was in reaction to Trumps update after he had spoken with the leaders of Israel and other U.S. allies in the region.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who also is close to Trump, panned any deal that would leave Iran perceived as being a dominant force in the region and in which it would retain its ability to destroy oil infrastructure throughout the Gulf.

(22,790 posts)if they had crossed that threshold prior, none of this would have happened. And to keep it from happening again, they'll build nukes. Existential threats have a way of doing that. Plus over a decade of negotiations wasted. What a bunch of fuck ups.

(8,201 posts)Still blame shifting the slow dealing to Iran?
The sooner Trump and his minions work out Iran is dealing from a position of strength and has little to lose, and a lot to gain, by slowing down negotiations, the better.
Trump needs to come up with some serious sweeteners.
He has forgotten, but Iran hasn't, that the US took out their Supreme Leader a while back.

Ending the war will require leadership. Neither Trump nor anyone around him is capable of leading anything, anytime, anywhere, for any reason.

(32,824 posts)The MSM is full of headlines that proclaim that a deal with Iran and the US is imminent.
I challenge anyone to show me 1 item in the deal (which was proposed by Iran and Pakistan by the way) that the US and Iran agree upon.
The Iran proposal and what Krasnov is publicly saying are totally different, nothing has been agreed to.
Crude oil is down 6% based upon the word of a demented man. The fossil fuel industry, IMO, wants to keep oil around $97/barrel to protect Krasnov.
Show me 1 item in this imminent peace plan that Iran and the US agree upon.

(172,536 posts)Oil hasn't budged much from its narrow trading range of $90 - $100/bbl for months, with a few spikes above and below that track with the weekly pump and dump.

(32,824 posts)Iran and the US agree on nothing in the peace plan proposed by Pakistan and Iran.
The US wasn't a party to this latest peace plan, it came from Iran/Pakistan.
It's more than about pump and dump, Krasnov's fossil fuel friends are doing everything they can to keep oil at $97/barrel. The price of crude is being manipulated, it just went down 6% based on a bogus peace plan agreement. The US and Iran agree on nothing.
What leads one to the assumption that a peace plan is imminent?
MSN has another headline up that says that oil tankers have resumed travelling through Hormuz. Ships from China and Pakistan have travelled through Hormuz after being authorized by Iran. This is exactly what Iran wants and what the US does not want and yet oil will drop based on a misleading statement.

(172,536 posts)The end of this 3 month war was "imminent" 3 months ago, and was supposed to be "over in a couple days", Iran's nuclear capability was "completely obliterated", and their military was "destroyed". But we all know the rest of that story.
