Overheated chemical tank in southern California 'will fail', EPA chief says

Government officials in Orange county, California, have warned that an overheated chemical tank “will fail” and could result in a chemical explosion in the area, the Environmental Protection Agency administrator said on Sunday.

“We’re being told that the tank will fail, but there are different scenarios as to what that means,” Lee Zeldin, told CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday. Zeldin, a former Republican congressman with no prior experience in environmental policy, was chosen by Trump as the head of the EPA.

“The most catastrophic scenario” at the aerospace facility in the city of Garden Grove, just 5 miles from Disneyland, Zeldin said, would be “an explosion that results in other tanks to explode. That’s the reason why you see such a big evacuation that’s been done in the surrounding areas.”

Zeldin noted that officials have said the “most likely scenario” is one with a “low-volume release” of the chemicals in the tank. Officials have been working to keep the temperature of the chemical tank below 85F by dumping the storage tank with water. On Friday, officials added a neutralizing agent to a nearby tank to limit the risk of explosion.

Doing what they do best. Destroying everything they touch. This is how the filthy-rich avoid responsibility for their neglect, ignorance and disregard for human life.

GKN Aerospace corporation is worth billions and they can't be bothered to operate safely while using explosive chemicals

GKN Aerospace is owned by Melrose Industries, a British aerospace manufacturing and investment company based in Birmingham, England. Let's hear it for foreign absentee ownership.

Melrose acquired GKN plc in a high-profile, hostile takeover in 2018 and has operated GKN Aerospace as its primary pure-play aerospace business ever since. That means it is trying to specialize in that area of business.

Melrose, and the filthy-rich hiding behind it's skirts, is trying to use its billions that they get from our government, to handle more explosive chemical facilities. Yeah, they sure know what they are doing.....

They make huge profits off our government contracts. Billions of Our tax dollars line their pockets and they can't be bothered to store explosive chemicals safely.

This is how the filthy-rich exploit us all, with their corporations.

says the repub candidates for California Governor.

This is what happens when you put dangerous chemicals into highly populated areas and then
don't regulate or enforce regulations.

People cannot go home
Nearby businesses closed on a major highway
Schools closed
People losing paychecks.
Traffic snarled everywhere

Experts have no real plan other than to wait for the tank to "fail"

It is a shit show of the highest magnitude

Living within a couple of miles of the "Blast Zone" but just barely outside the evacuation area gives me a whole different perspective going forward when these things happen elsewhere in the country. I now know what the communities go through.

Oh, I forgot to mention the constant sound of news helicopters flying above your neighborhood that sound like a lawnmower right outside your window.

Yes repubs, you keep running on "deregulation". See how far that gets you now.
