Republicans wary of Republicans - how politics became a clue about infection risk during the pandemic

So maga was subconciously disgusted with maga . Weirdly weird.

Americans who felt most vulnerable during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic perceived Republicans as infection risks, leading to greater disgust and avoidance of them – regardless of their own political party. Even Republicans who felt vulnerable became more wary of other Republicans. That’s one finding from research we recently published in the journal American Psychologist, and it has important implications for understanding a fundamental feature of human disease psychology.

and more likely to either believe covid wasn't real or to try to treat it with conspiracy-based cures that didn't work, and to not get vaccinated once the vaccine became available. Of course they were perceived as potential disease vectors.

it's one thing to argue against *requirements* to wear masks.

personally, i think during a lethal pandemic(!) the benefits of wearing a mask greatly outweigh the imposition on personal liberties to require it.

but at least i can grant that there's room for a legitimate debate, as there is with seat belt laws or helmet laws. though even there, society eventually came down on the side of saving laws.

but maga went beyond that, they actually mocked and berated people for voluntarily wearing masks. that's utterly insane. that's not defending anyone's freedom, literally all was doing was helping the virus spread and kill more americans.
