Trump's 'Beautiful' World
I know words. I have the best words,” Donald Trump told a South Carolina crowd as he campaigned for the Republican primary in December 2015.
It was just six months into his first campaign, but the real estate mogul turned reality TV star turned politician had already garnered a reputation for peppering his speeches with bizarre adjectives, head-scratching non sequiturs and sudden bursts of superlatives. There are words and phrases that he has used for the past nine years on repeat, trotting them out with gusto: “Witch hunt.” “Fake news.” “Tremendous.” “Swamp.” “Huge/Yuge.”

I think his overuse of certain words is indicative of both his limited vocabulary and his lack of general knowledge.
When he wants to say something favorable about anything, he'll throw in the word beautiful, whether it's appropriate or not. He will also use it when he doesn't know enough about something to come up with words that are actually descriptive of the thing he's talking about.
One memorable example was the speech where he was trying to say something about the Battle of Gettysburg and ended up spewing a bunch of well tossed word salad: "Gettysburg, what an unbelievable battle that was. It was so much, and so interesting, and so vicious and horrible, and so beautiful in so many different ways—it represented such a big portion of the success of this country."
It sounded like he had no idea what actually happened there; he knew it was important, but not exactly why. So he just strung some words together and ended up calling the bloodiest battle of the Civil War "beautiful."
