Dem leaders challenge Thune to vote on 3-year ObamaCare extension

(The Hill) Democratic leaders in both chambers are challenging Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) to stage a vote on a three-year extension of ObamaCare tax credits that expired at the start of the year.

Although Senate Republicans already defeated that bill in December, the Democrats think the proposal will get a big boost Thursday afternoon when the House is expected to pass it easily with the support of a number of centrist Republicans. Those GOP rebels — many of them facing tough reelection contests in November — are wary of the cost hike that’s hitting millions of people who had benefited from the Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies.

Heading into that House vote, Democrats are already leveraging the expected result to press Senate GOP leaders to follow suit.

Is there a way Senators can force a vote over Thune's objection as the House did to Johnson? dutch777 20 hrs ago #1

Seems there should be a similar mechanism with enough individual Senators supporting, assuming some Repugs break ranks there as they did in the House. Failure to do so will give Dems great ammo for anti GOP messaging in the mid terms.
