There are cost to waging a war of aggression. Hopefully the bulk of the victims weren't just paper pushers.

and all the communications gear was wrecked even if they hadn't UK intelligence said they had.

Ukraine is doing just what I hoped they'd do, make Crimea too expensive to try to keep.

Russia still hasn't come up with a plan to supply water there long term that doesn't involve taking over Ukraine.

living there were denied. Blowing up headquarters is a far better plan. Any Ukrainians that were in the building, shouldn't have been.

It's not just drinking water, which can be supplied by rainwater cisterns and having it delivered by tanker and distributed via trucks to outlying areas, it's water for irrigation. Much of Crimea was agricultural land prewar, an asrea with a longer growing season than most of Ukraine because of its geography.

Putin's answer will be Stalin's answer, ethnically cleanse the peninsula to make it safe for Russian tourists and military bases. I don't think he's going to succeed, not the way the bases are getting pounded into scrap metal.
