I grew up in Mayor Pete’s hometown too and when I graduated from high school, the local Hummer plant paid those wages! 45 years ago!

I had a studio apartment for 220 a month, all utilities paid. I worked as a waitress for 2.01 an hour and part-time as a secretary in 1985 for 5 bucks an hour. My health insurance was 20 bucks a week. I would have loved to get one of those AM General jobs! Health benefits, life insurance, sick pay, maternity leave, AND a pension!

Now, these workers are contractors, no benefits, no sick pay, no maternity leave, NO PENSION! They still offer 17 bucks an hour !

Where are you going to find a studio apartment for 220 a month.
My car payment was 100 a month.
Car insurance 50 quarterly.
Phone 20 a month.
There was no cable.
There was no internet.
I come from a union family.
