It's been done before, I think, but I don't know if California's done it before. They have a great bunch of candidates out there, but they are going to get in each other's way.

They gave a list of those he might choose from, he's only not going to choose one of those who are already running for the seat - which are all terrific candidates. If I was in CA, I'd find it a pretty tough choice.

I might be wrong, but Newsom has probably always wanted to be a Senator. Career politicians like to continue moving up until they've gone as far as they can. I think he would make a great Senator, just as much as the others.

this time in Jan. of this year. There will be many further opportunities, I'm sure, so he doesn't need to be in much of a hurry, I guess.

And if he's looking for an interim senator, someone else here mentioned a likely choice and she had crossed my mind, too. Barbara Boxer! She's experienced and knew Dianne Feinstein well and it would just be a temporary position. I always liked her - back in the day I wondered if she might be our first female president.

I don't know a lot about California politics, though. From what I've seen, with the people in agriculture, movies, new ventures, etc., it's about as diverse as it gets.
