and after a vote for Jeffries fails (and it will), a few of them from conservative districts will cross party lines to retain McCarthy. One hopes they'll be the ones doing to arm twisting and making a few side deals but even if they don't, a weak McCarthy will be better than Speaker Jordan or Gosar or any of the rest of the Klown Kongress. McCarthy will know he only kept his job because Democrats allowed it and then maybe he'll realize he needs to be the speakr for everybody, not just his own party.

And if he is still pandering to Moscow Margie and the rest of the nutjobs, he can be removed at a later date.

So I agree, he will likely be speaker for a while yet, only because the possible alternatives are worse.

(Part of this is Gaetz trying to delay his own ouster, an ethics review is about to drop and word has it that it's pretty bad)
