It's just a shame that a weasel like McCarthy ever got into the Speaker's chair. But you can blame that on the internal dynamics of the highly dysfunctional Republican party.

I mean, I think it's good that we got at least a temporary spending bill out of him, but that one moment of responsibility cost him his job. But it left us with a crooked deal that's still threatens to reward Russia for its interference in Ukraine and American politics.

I'm just not certain the Republicans can do better than McCarthy. Whoever they put in that chair is gonna also live under the cloud of their fickle culture of preferring personal effective over public responsibility.

Who had no chance of gaining approval from anybody. If he did the right thing and averted a shutdown, he was threatened by the extremist Republicans. And if he tried to give them concessions and backed out of his deal, he lost the votes of the Democrats. Nobody in that position now can win. I'm hoping for Jeffries, sooner or later.
