'Break the glass moment': Claire McCaskill on a Trump Speakership - All In - MSNBC

“In one party, you have people who want the norms of ethical behaviors and respect for the rule of law,” says Claire McCaskill. “On the other hand you’ve got a guy indicted – as you say 91 felony counts – and his party wants to bring him back to the Capitol and have him in charge of the only part of government they control. This is a break the glass moment because if there aren’t enough Republicans that stand up and say ‘come on folks, really?’ All those guys that won and women that won Biden districts, they’re done.” - Aired on 10/05/2023.

Especially the Infowars conspiracy theory types (Greene, Gaetz, Boebert, Gosar, Luna, Hageman, Jackson, etc). Keep them as far away from government as humanly possible.

Joe and Kamala will need very intensive security. There will be those happy to end democracy early. No trials, no elections, Trump forever.

he wouldn’t hesitate to have our President and Vice President eliminated to suit his desires. Does anyone think otherwise?

Trump would face the same hurdle for Speaker as for President. If it wasn't clear before today's breaking news it sure is now. Trump cannot hold any federal office, period.

9. Agreed, the 14th Amendment, Article 3 is the official and TFG-ending reason

But there was no rational reason for him to run for any public office in the first place. He has no government knowledge or experience, likely never even voted - but the obvious reason was that his only agenda for launching a campaign was to grift contributions since all his attempted business ventures failed - and he had no intention of serving until the contributions came rolling in. And he's unwilling to give that up, even continued to hold "rallies" rather than doing the job.

10. He might end up having to surrender ... again... the House Speakership if he "wins"

This is of the GOP's own doing.

According to Bloomberg though,
He can't even be selected for that position.

Almost Anyone Can Become the House Speaker, Except Donald Trump

* House GOP rules prohibit a speaker who’s indicted for a felony
* Former president says he’s focused on run for the White House

Hoping to blame, yet again, the dysfunction on Democratic leadership - but that ship sailed during their failed "impeachment" attempt.
