New Rule: Truth Matters
America is in danger of becoming a place where truth no longer matters it's all about whether it feels right in your gut.
Here's a "bootleg" version of the show which includes the entire interview with Emmy and Peabody Award-winning actor, writer, and producer, Keegan-Michael Key, and award-winning film and TV director, writer, and producer, Elle Key (5:50); entire panel discussion with editor-at-large of Reason Magazine and co-host of The Fifth Column podcast, Matt Welch, and senior editor for the online magazine The Dispatch, Sarah Isgur (19:30); Bill's "funny bit" (32:25); and includes the opening part of New Rules (45:35). It won't last long, as usual:

Sloppy work by Maher's team -- or Maher -- to omit that from the conversation. But it made for good commentary, right?
I thought truth matters, especially considering the New Rules bit on Hasan Minhaj. Disappointing, IMO.

(1,970 posts)I wasn't familiar with the Keys, an interesting couple, and their book (The History of Sketch Comedy: A Journey through the Art and Craft of Humor) sounds like a fun and informative read as well. If you look it up on Amazon, you can then hit the "Read Sample" button and read a few pages from the book. They went back in time in an attempt to discover the world's first joke, and came up with evidence of one from around 1900 BCE. And guess what... drum roll... it was a fart joke!
The panel discussion was good, better than I expected, and the Google searches was amusing.
Overall, a very entertaining show!
