I know there are many, so share below, yet vote for something you do like.

(9,348 posts)My children always got sick around the holidays when young and the doc told us it was probably a tree allergy. We love a real tree but did not want sick children around the holidays so now we go best of both worlds. A 7 foot slim tree inside and a real tree, whatever my wife and I find along the road ( church parking lot, Lyons, Elks, School tree sale) whatever we find. It goes on the deck and we sit out a couple nights a week. Usually once a weekend I will goc peppermint schnapps and candy cane or Malibu and cocoa. Maybe 5/6 a season. I am still working on last years Malibu.

Exception: Christmas morning, hot cocoa (because it goes beautifully with aebleskives).

(5,379 posts)Just looked up the name because I couldnt remember it (International Delight Peppermint Mocha) and was shocked to see a very low number of review stars. According to fans who excitedly bought jugs when it came out for the season the recipe has changed and its now awful
Of course I will try the new version. The old one was perfect, though. You just needed a dollop so as not to get too minty.

(9,444 posts)mini tapioca ground to a powder, then soak. Use a few tablespoons.
a lot of cream
a hint of vanilla
peppermint or spearmint leaves
licorice root tea concentrate (1-2 tablespoons)
some people like a little brown sugar
and or
cardomon. or cardomon cinnamon mix
blender
Note:
never done this myself. i have also noticed a decline in deluxe creamer quality and do not use anymore.

I've got an old fridge that I always keep stocked with a 1/2 barrel of fresh 'craft' beers. For the past 20 years or so we've had Sierra Nevada 'Celebration' on tap. Quite delightful - but has been a challenge to find it because of 'demand' and 'politics' between distributors and customers!
However, the 2022 batch is on tap and 'tis the season to be jolly!
(actually, the brew in the mug should be more of an amber color - but you get the idea!)

(5,176 posts)Requires a little more effort to prepare, and you need to get sugar cones and a specialized tool but it's worth it. It's great for a Christmas or New Years party. Plus you get to set it on fire!
Feuerzangenbowle is a traditional German alcoholic drink for which a rum-soaked sugarloaf is set on fire and drips into mulled wine. It is often part of a Christmas or New Year's Eve tradition. The name translates literally as fire-tongs punch,
We had a friend over who 'had it for the first time' and raved about it. He didn't remember he'd had it twice before at our holiday parties. He'd just over-enoyed it a little too much the previous times.

(8,545 posts)Sounds like a mulled wine, yet the instructions are different at the end:
3. Place sugar cone into metal holder ("Feuerzange"
. Soak sugar cone with rum and carefully light it. The sugar will melt and drip into the wine. Little by little start adding more rum to the sugar cone using a long-handled ladle.
4. Once the sugar cone and rum have completely burned off, gently stir the concoction and serve in mugs or heatproof glasses.
