The whole Assassin's Creed guy running the torch through all the historical landmarks, the aerial gymnastics around the Notre Dame, the metal band playing w/ the decapitated Marie Antoinettes...

Best opening ceremonies I’ve ever seen.

In the rain. OMG

(maybe tonight bc we did talk politics when we were oitside)

Bc I'm taking the day off for The Opening Ceremonies!

I did not watch the whole thing but the end of the ceremony with the laser show on the Eiffel Tower was realy nice ( better than the one for bastille day ) & the olympic cauldron lifting off cought me off guard and was stunningly beautiful despite the rain.

Some aspect of the ceremony I cought were not exactly my cup of tea ( very eurovision-like and will probably be critized as overly "woke" by many) . However some ideas / tableau were actually amusing weird or beautiful and although I do live in paris I will never get tired of some of the shots of the city especially the ones from the sky along the river. This city is really freaking beautiful !

Between the singing beheaded marie antoinette , the Nazgul d'arc ( as someone nicknamed the metal horse on the river ) or the phantom of the opera doing parkour on the roofs of paris I will definitly check some video recap tommorow as there was clearly some entertaining moments.

I got there around ?4:30. So watched till 6p.
Then we went out and came back around 7:20p and watched the rest in recap.

So wonderful! One of the best I've ever seen.
