This is the weirdest automobile Ive ever seen. I dont know whats inside, but from the outside it looks a tin can on wheels. Weird design. For 120 grand? No thanks

(120,110 posts)The first one I saw, I was behind it at a stoplight. I couldn't figure out at first what I was looking at, then the light changed and it turned the corner and I saw the whole thing in its hideous glory. I've seen some butt-ugly vehicles (the Nissan Cube, the Edsel, the PT Cruiser), but this one out-uglied all of them. It's like Brutalism in architecture; it tries to be ugly. It's defiantly, transgressively ugly. It wants to be ugly, kind of like Elon Musk wants to be a douchebag. It's the douchebag of motor vehicles. I couldn't get away from it fast enough. I'm only thankful they don't come in red.

(92,009 posts)Painful to look at. There are a couple around the county and they are disturbing to see.

(35,518 posts)It looks so cheap. Tin cans appear to be constructed much better.

(16,391 posts)The Edsel, a car division of Ford Motor Company that produced vehicles from 19581960, included many innovative features for its time:
Safety
The Edsel was one of the first models to include remote trunk opening, self-adjusting brakes, and many elements of the Ford Lifeguard safety package. This included a deep-dish steering wheel, double-latched doors, and childproof rear door locks. The Edsel Citation also offered an "Edsel Lubricator" that could lubricate the car with the touch of a dashboard button.
Controls
The Edsel had ergonomically designed controls for the driver, including an automatic transmission with Teletouch Drive, which featured push-buttons mounted on the steering wheel hub.
Other features
The Edsel also included power brakes, power steering, and power windows. The 1958 Edsel came in 161 colors, with single-, two-, or three-tone paint schemes.
