My parents’ car. That was in 1974. It was several years old at the time.

$150.00 in 1970.

It was blue. Had headlights, taillights. The brakes worked. Gas was .25 cents a gallon.

He taught me to drive. I later bought a 72 Chevy Vega. Thank goodness it was put out if it's misery when it was rear ended while parked on our street. What a lemon.

Check the gas and fill it with oil...

Thing smoked so badly, I got three tickets!!!

Third ticket required a court appearance... I delivered a letter from the fire department saying the car had been destroyed in one of their auto extrication classes.

The judge chuckled and called it good.

It was not rated for night time driving because the electrical system was wonky. It was a three in the column. I drove it around the 'back yard' sometimes to learn how to operate it. I was around 9-10. (The barns and such were right behind the house, so there was a big area between them.)

The driver often gave half a dollar, or at least a quarter, if we chased it down and gave it back. Fun days.

She was beautiful.

Three lights to get through an intersection, figured out how to slide down to get the clutch in far enough and then pop back up to see the road in front. To the day my eyes forced surrender of my license, everyone who entered my car offered (begged) to drive.

My grandma bought it for me, was 18 when I learned how to drive, had 3 brothers before me, so had to wait until I was 18/19 years old. I was so spoiled. Oh, just another example of being spoiled. I was the only one out of 6 kids that played in the band, so I go a 2nd flute so I wouldn’t have to carry it back and forth to school. Got a piccolo too when I went high school. All instruments were donated to both schools I attended when i graduated. Wish someone would spoil me now.

This was in '68, so the truck cost my dad $250 a few years prior to this. It was three on the tree with a straight six. It drove pretty nice actually. My big milestone with driving wasn't the first day I drove, or when I got my license in that same truck. It was a short time later when my dad let me drive it by myself.

When I drove the 1st MrsK home,, we drove , Nova,, after 3rd MrsK passed, I see Novas everywhere, thinking about buying one for 500 bucks.

That was in 1967 and it was my boyfriend's car.

First car that I owned in my own name was a 1967 Plymouth Fury VIP that I bought second hand in 1973.

1946 coupe with some strange "fluid drive" semi automatic transmission but still had a clutch. Or maybe that trans was in a subsequent '49 DeSoto. Long ago.

Stick shift on the column, could get rubber out of 2nd gear.

Studebaker. Don't remember the year, but it was yellow and green.

Gorgeous car, metallic green coupe with black stripes. Horrible to drive, way overpowered - you had to use a delicate touch on the gas pedal, plus you sat really low in the drivers seat (Dad was tall, I’m not).

It was an 8-year-old rust bucket when I was 16.

The 2 doors weighed a couple hundred pounds. they were gigantic and swung about the width of todays parking space.

And the interior was all blue. It had been my mother's first brand new car.

And I guess to keep me entertained, he identified the other cars we passed, explained what all the traffic signs meant and the same with the lines in the road. So I did have a slight advantage when I finally took Drivers' Ed. But my Dad never drove with me for practice and neither did my mother. My brother did a couple of times, but driving with me mainly fell to my grandmother, and she never flinched even when I ran over a curb!

I can't figure this out, I'm paying for " special" cat food, per my vet, and she's puking hair balls. I brush her daily, lots of hair

Bought second hand in 1976 but I LOVED THAT CAR! Had little doors that opened in the front under the dashboard near the floor on the driver's and pasenger's sides to LET IN AIR (instead of open windows that might mess up someone's coiffure. LOL!)

First I drove was a 1965 vw beetle

4 in the floor, car I learned on. Dad’s car, he would let me drive it on country roads where we wouldn’t see another car for miles - when I was 13.

The first car I drove was my mom’s 1975 Ford Thunderbird. That car was a beast! Being a newbie at driving, I hit the brakes too hard. I thought I was going to go through the windshield…

We only had a single car garage.
We used to park a Nissan Honey Bee and a Plymouth Fury there in winter.
That was interesting, and involved a lot of climbing and crawling

It was 5 years old when my parents bought it for my senior year on high school. She was beautiful!

That was eons ago. I still remember the hood ornaments, one on each side of the hood.

I don’t remember what car I learned to drive on. I remember the HS I went to had driving simulator machines. Does that count?

I was raised on a farm, driving when I was 13.

I was supposed to drive out of the barn lot, across a gravel road that hardly ever saw traffic beyond a tractor or mule, and park by the house. The old farmer who asked me to move it didn't ask me if I'd ever driven anything other than a tractor before. Naturally, a car came up that road just as I got the truck to lurch across. Good thing that driver was watching, because I didn't know how close it came to being a first wreck as well as a first drive until I got stopped and out.

My mom's car went into the dealership for repairs and they gave her a loaner car.


That loaner car was much smaller than my mom's car. I was 14 at the time so my mom took me out into the countryside with that loaner car and let me get a feel for driving. I only remember that loaner car was a light blue sedan.


Once I got my learner's permit, my mom let me drive her mid 80's Caprice Classic coupe.


In Driver's Ed., we learned how to drive using a Dodge Dynasty sedan.
