Best ice cream ever!

Haagen daz took them over and for their operations and to eliminate competition and threw away their recipes.

Valencia oranges just vanished a few years ago. None of the markets here carry them.

But it is both major chains - Ralphs and Vons
I cn get Valencia oranges at farmers' markets when in season.

The frozen juice concentrate section of my grocery store went from three shelves to one. No more cherry/raspberry blends or grape juice, just orange, grapefruit, apple, & pineapple, & they're frequently out of orange.

I like to buy lemonade concentrate to make Arnold Palmer at home and it’s often out of stock

bought a good hand juicer and poof! no more valencias.

You’re right I could never find it that or the white grapefruit juice.
Although the other day I was intype either big lots or grocery outlet and one of them had white grapefruit juice it was so good.

It helps to be a two hour flight from Valencia!

With rice cereal being such an important first food, I couldn't believe it had been discontinued.

in all five grocery stores, Walmart, etc and Amazon had it. They absolutely deliver food. Cream of rice just may be available. Good luck!

I just looked...they sell it in 14-ounce boxes that you have to cook, six-packs of these boxes and instant cream of rice in pouches.

can order from Amazon or find it in specialty shops, but can't find it locally in Supermarkets anymore. Also Holland Rusk Toast.

and while I am the first to say freshly prepared fish is always far better, until sometime in the late 90s (I think) they had a decent frozen dinner with a crab cake (not bad), a fish filet, maybe some shrimp or scallops (memory fades) and some side offering (french fries? veggie?)

At any rate, it wasn't bad and no one markets anything like it now. In fact, frozen dinners are largely pretty grim now, compared to years past in my opinion (and no, I'm not talking Swanson's)...

Costco used to carry it. Delicious.

They're also available at Amazon but at twelve bucks a can it might be cheaper to fly to Oregon and pick them yourself.

I am not surprised there is a sub but I have never seen them. will have to take a look. last time I ordered several packages from Amazon, but they do not store well. the oil seemed to go rancid or if freezing they get too crumbly (never mind damage from shipping)

My late grandmother always had a bag of gingersnaps in the cupboard. I couldn't find them in the store, so I asked. The grocer told me there was a problem with the local maker so they weren't available. I burst into tears. Gingersnaps are back, and still remind me of Grammie's love and larder.

I found a suitable replacement in Stewart’s Wishniak that sometimes is on the shelf, but for more money.

Apparently, the company still makes it, but I haven't seen it in any stores in years. (It's available online at ridiculous prices.) I used to like adding it to ice cream, yogurt, smoothies, etc.

The cheapest I found was over $11 a jar from a seller on Amazon. I like it, but not that much!

It tastes like chicken boullion but it's plant-based. I used to find it all the time but now I can only get it on Amazon. I don't need to buy 6 boxes of it at a time but at least I can get it.

Came in various flavors. Ham was best, caraway good too. Thought it was called “oma” or “omma”, Google search brings up nothing like it. Mom bought it at the A&P when we were kids (60s, early 70s). Delicious on saltines. Anyone remember this?

Still makes a Pimento Cheese spread in the jar. Also, an Old Style Cheddar spread in a jar.only sold a Kroger here. Sadly, about 6 oz. jar runs about $4.29.

When the Army went from C-rations to MREs the cheese changed to this weird white crap that looks a little like latex caulk and probably tastes the same. I've never eaten caulk but I have eaten this cheese, and it's not good.

TBH..I used to eat an entire box of puffed rice in one sitting. (When I was a kid!) They're mostly air..LOL

They are still out there, but next to impossible to find.

Chopped sour pickles knocks it out of the park in tuna fish sandwiches!

I can still get them, but I have to drive to the next town.

Used to be, EVERY market carried them, but Americans are settling for mediocrity by using dill pickles in tuna sandwiches.

Just buzz oatmeal in the blender until fine, then cook as usual. I did that for my kiddos when they were babies and just starting cereals. Better than the bought ones and cheaper too.

...sort of a PopTart kind of thing with a thin layer of ground, vaguely sweet raisins in the middle...
... my grandmother and I had them when we were having our 'sophisticated ladies' coffee after dinner on the porch ...

of course my cup was a tablespoon of coffee in milk but I felt ever so grown-up

I remember looking for them a few years ago, to see if they still existed.

It didn't help that we always called them "raisinette cookies", which was not what was ever on the wrapper.

My mom loved those. I found something similar on Amazon, but not near as good.

You could still find it for a good while afterwards, but it's really rare now.

lo and behold, they were all gone! I couldn't find them for years and years, so we reluctantly went w/o them. No substitute would even come close, and I even looked at planting some, but couldn't find the seeds. Then, amazingly enough, earlier this year, they reappeared!

Holy Mother of Moses!! Joy of joy!! Needless to say, I've stocked up on them, even going out of my way to go to other stores and get the Bushes Butter Beans too.

By the way, these are excellent w/ ham or bacon, and that it. And I'm sure that they would make a fine bean soup, but I don't want to waste my precious butter beans (or too many of them) on a soup, but would rather eat them slowly, savor the taste. Ha ha heh. Can you tell that I love my butter beans?!

I’m a California girl. I only recently became aware of butter beans (not to taste) and something called purple hull peas. Never seen ‘em.

sometime, they are simple and easy to heat up, and add a little bacon, or ham, and viola!

I guess at age 72 I could give them another chance… but not canned peas! Not a chance! Love frozen though!

It was made by Quaker Oats in the 1970s...it was yummy.

This is the only time of year that you can get Count Chocula so for all but September to just after Halloween that is on my list. (My kids make fun of me for buying it like 5 boxes at a time when it is in stock)

IIRC Quisp and Quake were rival packaging of the same cereal.
There was even a poll in the early 70s whether to keep or drop Quake.
Quake survived but Quangaroos was introduced immediately.

Still carries cream of rice, what they don't carry anymore that I miss is Postum. I'm too sensitive to caffeine I don't even drink tea but I like that stuff and you have to special order it.
