Related: Culture Forums, Support Forumsthe nightmare (no...really) of upgrading to a new phone:
spouse and i are jinxed
it never, not once, ever goes smoothly. we avoid it till things just dont work anymore.
spouses phone was getting impossible to hear a phone conversation on
no amount of professional cleaning helped. the battery was very weak. etc etc etc.
new phone today at the verizon store. things seemed fine
she called me
yeah it works
good
bye. but still an hour and a half or so.
we get home, i call her
nothing. she had her sister call her
nothing. she could call out no problem but could not receive calls.
2 and a half hours on the phone with verizon
yes, two and a half hours on the phone, using both our phones, her poking at hers while listening to instructions on mine
it is now fixed.
my rant for the day. carry on with your usual business.

(105,915 posts)them. I know that beyond the very early work-purchased phones (Nokia, Blackberry, Kyocera), once I started buying Apple (iPhone 4), I have stuck with them. My problem is that I need it to fit in my scrub or jacket pocket and that rules out the newest ones (I stick with the iPhone se versions).
But, outside of having to add back some music that doesn't come through manually, it is an easier process than I could imagine switching from Apple. So, they were smart and they've GOT me. But, still not something I look forward to.
Good luck!

(21,309 posts)it was something to do with porting her service/existing phone number to verizon from t-mobile (a necessary change because we moved to a rural area where t-mobile has very bad coverage)
it got hung seemingly in a magical position where she could make calls but not receive them.
we are in the city for a few days and this was one of the trips chores. it had to be done today because the rest of the trip is doctor appointments.
and of course it couldnt go smooth! of course!

When it goes wrong, it goes very, very wrong. I can tell this much from what you've written: It wasn't your fault!
