(2,419 posts)While there was still water in the pan I was cooking them in.

(68,359 posts)I've never heard of that happening. If water is still there they can't get over 212° (plus a couple degrees from the salt.)
And, 212° is not high enough for thermal decomposition of almost any organic compound.
You had to have a very rare set of conditions for that to happen!

(2,419 posts)I was used to gas or the old electric coils. Peas were pretty tightly packed into the bottom of the pan. Water, of course. And set the induction burner on high. To mug heat went in too quickly into the pan. Localized boiling of the water under the peas caused hot spots and the a few of the peas burned.

(184 posts)I really use Bic single-blade, sensitive skin safety razors on my manly face. And speaking from personal experience, one can cut oneself with any type of razor, including the baby Bics. (Maybe it happens once a year, and it's always the same damn spot on my upper lip.)

(68,359 posts)Actually I gave myself a pretty bad burn once, because I didn't notice the foil had started to fall apart and there was a hole.
When my skin hit the hole, the cutter made direct content. Looked like I had rug burn on my Adam's apple.

(18,412 posts)This whole thing is a mystery to me.
I'm sorry about your experience with the cutter. That doesn't sound pleasant!

(68,359 posts)It was more feeling stupid that I didn't notice the decrepit foil before I hurt myself.
That happened just the one time. I inspect that thing monthly ever since.

(18,412 posts)I've always shaved with a blade, until I had an unfortunate experience a few years ago after going on my second blood thinner. I cut myself about 4 times in the same session, and it wasn't good.
So I've been using this electric razor since.
The foil is lasting a long time since I only shave about every 3-4 days.
I used to have a beard, but I've been shaving for the past few years due to the fact I still wear an N95 when I go anywhere where other people are.
When it gets long enough to where I feel it is interfering with the mask seal, I shave.

(68,359 posts)So, I'm still shaving 2/3rds of my face daily. The foils still ladt quite a while.
I replace them once. Since they're pretty expensive, I think it's wise to spend another $20 for an all new razor. The motors & batteries don't last forever.
I'm 95%+ electric now.
