Bench Pressed

Adriana Porter Felt @__apf__
I put a wooden bench on the sidewalk strip outside my home. Dozens of people sit here throughout the day because I live at the top of a very steep hill. particularly older people who need to catch their breath. The city just sent me a notice ordering me to remove it

It is not in anyone's way; many people thank me for it; it does not block car doors opening nor does it have any impact on wheelchair accessibility. They did not state any reason for the order.

This is the right hill to die on

Apply through the standard channels and you could have the bench officially installed in as little as 11-12 years

Aaron Binder @theaaronbinder 56m
Team up with your neighbors and get EVERYONE to install a bench. WE ARE ALL BENCHACUS.

They can't be too sure it's *your* bench. Perhaps put an engraved bench plate with the name of a local politician.

James @fredfelt 9h
Maybe park a car there instead?

1. Oh, come on! That's not a bench - that's an art installation!

And it's placed in a parking spot!

I can see the humor in the posts. But the "woe is me .. big gov is hounding me .." Is pretty much entitled and self centered drivel.

...which doesn't show the bench, which I think is placed on the grass strip in front of their house.

I'd guess it's reasonably sturdy and practical since folks were using it, and not disturbing anything except ignorant owners' shitting dogs.
