The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI made a post, last week that was horrid,
Long story, short. I called my neighbor Friday morn, and told them, I don't feel right, I'm going in, take care of LilGlad , please.
I called 911, they came and got me.
Im home now, my Etoh was 102, prolly from night before) but, my potassium was 1.2 , my magnesium didn't register.
, I'm back home now, seems, VA was giving me meds, not knowing, I had gastric bypass surgery. (Yes i tell every Doc)I was on wrong meds and vitamins.
I just want to apologize, for my words. That wasn't me, my potassium, was 1.2 , mag was undectable.
Im thankful for my neighbor, who took care of LilGlad.
Seems, I was taking meds, that are absorbed, in the stomach, which I don't have.
Im home now.Good as Ive felt, in months. I'm down from 12 pills a day, to 1 and a new diet plan.
True bariatric Vitamins.
I apologize, for my post.
I wasn' t well, but, luckily, my neighbor knew.

(106,336 posts)Can you obtain a medical alert bracelet that can include pertinent details about your health--including your gastric bypass? The new ones have those QC (funny little scannable box ) codes that can include some pretty detailed health info.

(12,200 posts)Low magnesium can really trip you up. Ive had that as well and my mom. My brother was being over medicated for diabetes and crashed his car due to his blood sugar dropping to 30. He had 2 docs prescribing meds that he didnt need anymore. He didnt have bariatric surgery but had lost about 80 lbs. and his docs kept writing the scripts without adjusting them. They hadnt been checking his A1c either. He called me a few days ago saying his A1c was 5.5 and his new doc had taken him off all diabetes meds.
So glad they got that straightened out for you!

(69,861 posts)...is the 50% fatality number.
I'd think 1.2 might be the 80% fatality Level.
My wife had severe hyponatremia (sodium) several years back. She was at the 20% fatality Level.
Low potassium is called hypokalemia.
