problems and take meds that give me tremors. It is hard for me to post sometimes and some posters are a pain in the rear.. I am staying. If my misspelled works or taking long to respond gets on your nerves, I am sorry. It is what it is, TIA to all
I also have had some nasty posters who will post to tell me my post is stupid ,etc.

(55,859 posts)Here, stand here while Mr. Kotter does his stand-up routine.
Uh, do I get any lines?
Not really, we just need you to be there so mr. Kotter has someone to talk at.
Ok, maybe it wasn't that bad, but they really didn't give that character much to work with....

Niagara
(11,375 posts)And I've had a few people here that have corrected my spelling or predictive text and they've been banished to my full ignore.
Guess what? I misspell words!
Guess what? I'll choose the incorrect predictive word!
Guess what? I'm always leaving a word or two out of a sentence!
Guess what? I'll use incorrect grammar!
If no one likes my mistakes...keep fucking scrolling!
There's an abundance of spelling, predictive, grammar and whatever else happening here, it's not just you Debbie and it's just not me.
The last person that mentioned that you placed an extra "ow" in Halloween in one of your threads went straight on my full ignore list. There's absolutely no reason for anyone to be that petty. It's ridiculous.

(23,108 posts)I've had the same thing happen a number of times - as my writing style is, well, unconventional.
And like most people here, I've had my share of adversarial replies - including some which, as you noted, might seize on small syntax or factual mistakes in bad faith (as in life itself, really).
But I've never put anyone on ignore, and probably never will - because I've found that even those with whom I've had vehement disagreements, might, later on, have something really interesting and/or informative to say.
So take it from me: ignore the ignore button. You never know where good insights will come from next.
Niagara
(11,375 posts)It's about establishing superiority. If someone wanted to be helpful, there's a function where one can mail another person in private along with sending a link.
I can guarantee that I'm not missing anything spectacular with any condescending offender on my ignore list.

(23,108 posts)Still, I do like to read interesting points - even if it comes from a power-tripper.

(223 posts)I've watched the tone of DU change. We do have visitors who do not share our politics, but join in the conversations to twist and misinform at worst, and to make it unpleasant and maybe scare away some democrats at best.
Like mosquitos and other annoying flying insects with small brains, we must bear with them. Their goal is to chase you away. I'm glad you aren't listening to them.

(3,166 posts)Spelling and grammar dont really matter. We can figure out what you mean. Makes me think of this poem:
ODE TO A SPELL CHECKER
by Jerrold H Zar
Eye halve a spelling check her,
It came with my pea sea.
It plane lee marks four my revue
Miss steaks aye kin knot sea.
Eye ran this poem threw it,
Your sure reel glad two no.
Its vary polished in its weigh,
My checker tolled me sew.
A check her is a bless sing;

It helps me right awl stiles two reed,
And aides me when aye rime.
Each frays come posed up on my screen,
Eye trussed too bee a joule;
The checker pours oer every word
To cheque sum spelling rule.
Bee fore wee rote with checkers
Hour spelling was inn deck line,
Butt now when wee dew have a laps,

(639 posts)Fun breaks are essential while we cope with all the horrors and potential horrors in our world right now.
And as a lifelong lousy speller, I love that we can sometimes blame it on autocorrupt (which is what I call autocorrect).

(52,502 posts)Not really. I've had them for a few decades. Manageable for a long time but now that I'm of a certain age, they are pain in the ass.
For a long time my anti-depressants made them worse so it was a fight between those meds and the essential tremor meds. Now I'm on an experimental drug trial. Fingers crossed!
Welcome back!

(36,841 posts)You live up to my motto better than I do.....
"It cost nothing to be nice".
Went to the cognitive doc today. She said my essential tremors are definitely not
Parkings Disease. They started for me about 30 years ago from taking anti-depression pills. I've now found exercise(just keep moving) works much better along with Cognitive Behavior Strategies, google those.
slightlv
(7,396 posts)You mean the shaking in my hands may be due to the anti-depressants, and not just a symptom of advancing old age?! I take an SSRI and have for quite a while now for anxiety (GAD)/depression.
multigraincracker
(36,841 posts)It is for anxiety. I take only when needed. Also google "CBT strategies for anxiety".
Works for me and it might not for you but it helps me. Also breathing meditation.
slightlv
(7,396 posts)but it's not legal in any form where I'm at. And the CBD leaves a lot to be desired around here... (sigh). Crap, we're still fighting the legislature on abortion rights, even we told them NO from the first (KS). But we can't even get a question on the ballot about pot. I'm disabled and could easily come up with a medical card. And I'd like that, to cut down some of the pain meds I take. But no... better to take an SSRI that could take up to 10 years to titrate off of without causing suicidal ideation. I take Effexor XR.

(2,731 posts)I didn't know that you were thinking of leaving, but I am glad you decided to stay!
slightlv
(7,396 posts)Heck, at least you have a *reason* for your tremors. My hands are beginning to shake such that it's hard at times to hit the right keys on the keyboard... let alone when I try to post on my phone (ugh!).
I'm a pretty opinionated individual... I will usually add a (YMMV) at the end of a post like that, cause I recognize we aren't all of one mind completely around here (gryn)... But I don't think you and I have ever "had words"... at least, not that I can remember. I do know there are times when I post, come back to DU later, and have butterflies in my stomach when I see the My Posts lit up. I'm usually afraid I've gone overboard or ticked someone off... but that's on me and my sense of insecurity; not on anyone here at DU.
I second you on DU being family... I honestly don't know what I'd do without everyone here!
