The OP asked for sappy or silly songs, and "Fernando" is neither of those things.

Would be nice to play at the World Series game for the late great Fernando Venezuela. Birthday on November 1. Corny idea, but such a great song on its own.

I have a cat named Henry, so I sing it to him in my best Peter Noonan voice. It’s a fun song to sing. And I don’t know why, but anytime I can’t find him he’ll come out immediately when I break into song.

I know, I know. It’s the bubbliest of bubble gum songs. But I love the sheer joyous exuberance of the song. Never get tired of it.

Hanson gets a bad rap because they were just kids.

But they stayed together and were actually a pretty good mature adult band.

That song in particular is ear candy but actually has a pretty mature theme about prioritizing a few deep relationships over the shallow fleeting ones. It is actually pretty freaking astute for a group of minors.

I love this version of it that keeps the joyfulness while really bringing out the underappreciated musicality and theme. It made me see the band in a whole new light

It always gives me a lift.

I love that lead singer. Great voice with an infectious charm.

It is hard not to smile.

Glad you liked it. I would love to take credit for it but I only "discovered" it because someone posted it here years ago.
