Well, THAT was a week.
It started on Tuesday when my delightfully warm shower suddenly turned into ice cubes. Not fun. A note to the property manager brought a reply that water would be off while a plumber assessed the problem.
The text announcing the return of hot water coincided with the happy arrival of visitors, family from out of state that I hadnt seen in years. We went to boil water for tea, and the faucet delivered nothing at all; my phone pinged noting a new text message from the manager, advising that all water would be off while yet another plumber took a looksee. Fortunately, the water came on after only about two hours. After a tasty and somewhat giggly dinner my guests departed for their hotel, and I set about doing the dishes. In cold water.
The next morning, I got up early to do the laundry that I hadnt been able to do the day before. Walked down the hall to the laundry room only to discover that the washer was out of order. Criminy. Brought the hamper back and stashed it, and prepared to fix breakfast for my visitors and me. We chuckled at the timing of my water woes as we got everything ready for their task of upgrading my electronics. Then the power went off. Half the town was down. So, we moved a small table over by the window and played a few games of cribbage by sunlight.
After two hours the power came back, and they started showing me how to move stuff from one computer to another. Then they hooked up my new TV and began the lesson in how to get it to work. They handed me the remote just as the power went off again. At that point we just sat down and laughed. Happily, it was only off for about an hour, but we had to start over on the TV lessons. The day ended with pizza and cribbage.
They stopped by the next morning for coffee and hugs before they left for the airport. Were all hoping that it wont be so long before we can be together again. In the meantime, the hot water is back, the lights are on, and the washing machine is working. Go figure.
