(3,930 posts)And found that cats dont care for the taste of mice. They just chase them because they get into the house. Its the scurrying motion that attracts them, not the allure of a meal of mouse meat. Just my own personal theory that I just made up this instant.

I had a cat that was a stray. She spent every day all day hunting and eating mice. I had food in her dish but she preferred mice. The vet said that was healthier than the cat food.

Many cats may kill mice and then present them to you as gifts (yes, we're honored, but whyyy?!). If you suspect your cat ate a mouse, watch them over the next 24-48 hours for any signs of vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain. Cats are masters at hunting and in the wild they eat their prey to survive.
