Meet Homer

Homer is (was) a feral kitten. Only survivor of his littermates. Don't ask. Can't talk about it. Won't talk about it.

We finally captured him on Friday, and he went to the vet today for his first visit.

Healthy, no issues from his feral beginnings. (2 pounds)

He's a white/grey tabby and about 7 weeks old.

He is adorable. That is the face of a cuddle bug! You are all living in a wonderful, lucky space to have found each other.

I look forward to hearing lovely baby cat stories.

I swear he looks just like a Homer, love it. Have much fun and do post pics now and again.

He'd been avoiding the door until that moment.

We used a safe trap that caught the same juvenile opossum three times and my neighbor's barn cat twice, but never Homer.

I'm sure he'll be able to put his hard beginnings behind him, though.

He'll be a happy little feller in no time.

He settled next to me last night. He didn't want me to touch him though. Just snuggle.

Homer would say "Hi" if he wasn't so busy playing with a new toy in another room, away from me.

He does come when I call them for meals though. Found out he likes cheese. They all get a small cheese snack mid-morning.

Our last cat was a feral kitten that lived up to 19 years.

I couldn't talk to her in a normal voice. I had to change the pitch of my voice and basically baby talk to her and it improved our relationship.

I use to take small pieces of aluminum foil and roll it into round balls. She loved it when I rolled them on the floor and she'd bat them back at me.

They just seem to find me.
Wife brought one home from a friend that passed away. She was there for a couple weeks taking care of her before she died from pancreatic cancer. In the 2 weeks there she never saw the cat. Her friend mentioned to her she was worried about Cleo. Wife said don’t worry Multigrain will take her. She brought in and the walked up to me and never leaves my side. Always on my lap or sleeping next to my shoulder. Best buddys.

...rescued by a very kind woman named Gwen Cooper. He was found when he was 3 weeks old, with badly infected eyes. He was otherwise healthy, and the vet caring for him decided to remove the eyes rather than euthanize the kitten. His rescuer devoted her life to him. The full title of the book is Homer’s Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned about Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat.

Homer lived to be 16.
