I think we’re sisters from another mother! Right now I’m trying to finish some pieces by creating kumihimo inserts and wire work chains and clasps for the necklaces.

I also do needle felting - mainly fake food for a friends 6yo daughter.

Oh, and singing (hubby and I are in 2 choral groups - one church related and one private nonprofit), and I do water color paintings (greeting cards and small pieces). My kids got me a Cricut to play with so I want to try my hand at a Putz house once I learn how to use the machine.

I do not make small baby blankets either, I make them large enough that the kid grows into them. Usually about a twin bed size.

Some of the ones I have made for adults are queen size. I think I will be doing a lot of this for the next 4 years.
If I ever figure out how to post pictures I will put them up

I also like to read and bake .

40. Gardening, canning
Sat Nov 16, 2024, 08:36 AM

I grow my veggie garden from seed each year. All of it, from basil to zucchini.

I can. I started with basic water bath canning - jams, pickles, applesauce. I’ve graduated to pressure canning, eventually buying an All American canner (and letting it sit unused in the basement for 5 years). My most recent canning includes a carrot ginger soup base (for coconut ginger carrot soup, I purée the ingredients when I open the jar and add some coconut milk when cooking it). Also a simple chorizo hash that has sweet potatoes in it. And of course more basic stuff like beef burgundy, beef stroganoff (again adding the sour cream when opening the jar to cook it for dinner), pork fajitas strips, beef street taco meat, and honey garlic pork. The honey garlic pork is fav of dh’s- I make quinoa as a base to a bowl, heat up the honey garlic pork, shredding the pork a bit while it simmers in the pan and then adding the pork and roasted veggies to the bowl. He likes it with some Yumm sauce on top but I’m happy with it just plain.

Anyway, I don’t just pressure can my garden produce!

I also crochet and sew.

I’m in my 50s. I had two amazing grandmas, though my mom never did these things.

I really love the quality and beauty of 1920's through 1950's fountain pens. Most are not that difficult to clean up and repair. I find them at estate sales and on eBay. I do use them, but mostly I just enjoy the craftsmanship of making them function well. It's easy to get lost in the process and forget current worries!
