The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI have a Rec stalker
Someone is following me around and recommending most every post I make.
Many of my posts aren't worth a second read, much less a rec, so I don't know what to make of this.

Dont lose any sleep over it

By virtue of your username alone I have subscribed to you

(38,861 posts)I don't always agree with you but you are an advocate for what you believe in and your posts often make me pause to think and that deserves a recommendation IMO

Sometimes its really hard to figure out what is right or wrong on-line. Feel like I need a class or something.

(21,156 posts)...if you agree with the post or find it worth reading for whatever reason (rec is short for 'recommend'), or even if you just want to give a nod to the poster.
I rec a lot, in fact it's less common for me to not rec because I would really have to disagree with the post to not rec.

(17,997 posts)appreciation to the posters for taking the trouble. Even if the post is "bad" news (i.e. 'Analyst says Dem Strategy Sucks'). Sometimes I worry people might think I rec'd a post because I agree with it, but in the cases where I rec a "bad news" post it's either because it's important to know, or to thank the poster.
I bookmark REALLY crucial posts, probably way too many.
We have certain people who regular post breaking or important news, or news on all sorts of topics, like climate, environment, even archeology. Sometimes I even rec posts and the only purpose is to sort of let them know people are reading and appreciate what they do.

(62,819 posts)If someone is feeling stalked, they have a right to say something.
If someone is following every single comment and post you make and rec'ing it,
some people may find it a bit disconcerting.
Kaleva
(38,861 posts)It started not long ago. It could be a freak coincidence where random people rec s post of mine and it's the only rec I get for that particular post.
Irish_Dem
(62,819 posts)Sorry for the misunderstanding.

(38,861 posts)I posted this in the Lounge as I meant it to be light hearted and maybe others can have some fun with it. Even if it's at my expense.

(25,183 posts)since we don't know the identity of people who rec posts, only of those who rec an OP?
Irish_Dem
(62,819 posts)Every single one.
Statically that is beyond chance for being just independent random recommendations.

(41,391 posts)General Discussion. in the last 90 days. Why not put on GD instead of on the Lounge., I don;t do GD so no I am not your stalker.but someone on GD might be . If I was you I would post this over there.
Kaleva
(38,861 posts)It's just something I noticed, thought it amusing so I posted it on the Lounge. If I had been seriously concerned about it, I'd have posted it in GD.
ProfessorGAC
(71,375 posts)I know we can check to see who recs an OP, but I didn't know we could identify who recs replies.
How is that done?
Kaleva
(38,861 posts)How do you check to see who rec'd your post? I can see the number of recs, but I don't see who actually did the rec.
ProfessorGAC
(71,375 posts)...how to check recs on OPs.
That's super easy. You just click the top of the rec box and a list will pop up.
But, I'm unaware how to check them on an in-thread post.
Thought you knew, which I why I asked! I figured I'd learn something new.
Now, we're both stuck!
