I'd be like "I'm on vacation for the rest of the year, dude!"

* Footnote - "Light on your feet" - Bruce Lee was a competitive dancer in Hong Kong!

might have seemed substantial back in the day, but inflation has taken much of the enticement out of that.

"He was a great actor, with a career that spanned over half a century and included two iconic TV series (Maverick in the fifties and and Rockford in the seventies) and roles in films like The Great Escape, Victor Victoria, and Space Cowboys. He was also, by all accounts, a real mensch who received two Purple Hearts for his service in the Korean War, marched with Martin Luther King, and supported a number of humanitarian causes.

Garner was also, somewhat less famously, a Jeet Kune Do practitioner. He took private lessons from some guy named Bruce Lee."

I found a $20 bill in a parking lot in 1969 and it was a very big deal!

Hell, ten years later, in 1979, my share of the rent for an apartment I shared with two other guys was $85 a month.
