Today's Lighthearted Caption Contest (12/23/24)

Many years ago, one of the professional magazines I received included a full page devoted to a caption contest. They would print some photo from a bygone era and would solicit the readers to provide a suitable (usually humorous) caption.

As I followed the contest, I recognized that there were two types of captioners. Those who submitted very short captions which actually told a much larger story, and those who submitted rather lengthy "step by step instructions for the use of the image" captions which actually limited the application and humor in the image.

With the year we've all been having, I have decided to try something like that here. Folks may provide captions, or not, as they wish. If there is ongoing interest, I will undertake to do this on a quasi-regular basis.
