A French musical crime comedy film about a transitioning Mexican cartel leader nominated for 13 Oscars

Emilia Pérez. Anyone seen it?
Our daughter was telling us about it last night. When she added in “oh and it’s a musical” I busted out laughing. Hey, someone bought the pitch and it’s nominated.

“Emilia Pérez” led with 13 nominations, followed by “The Brutalist” and “Wicked” with 10 each.

and translated to Spanish which I would think wipes out rhyming patterns. Very few of the actors spoke Spanish at least not fluently. Our daughter was telling us that Selena Gomez had heard Spanish of course and knew some but didn’t actually speak it. Oh and they had to sing in Spanish.

It sounds like pandering to me or as my daughter said “Oscar bait” which I’d never heard before but fits perfectly.

8 years ago 👀 the family decided to go to a dinner and movie place to see “Beauty and the Beast” (live action). It starts and I realize …..Oh God. This is a musical.
