The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSo, yesterday (Friday) I was assigned to sub as a music teacher for
grades K to 4. OK, I could handle it. I used the Promethean Board with Youtube vids and the kids liked it enough.
It was my last class at 2:02, and on a Friday. And this particular Promethean board had no audio. What to do?
I know kids. This was a third grade class, just waiting to be dismissed in 40 minutes.
So, instead of music, I put on "adventure" videos. And they went crazy!
Ziplining in Costa Rica. Wind-surfing. Barnstorming. Skydiving. Hot air balloons. Etc. Etc.
Time went quickly and I was a hero.
Ta-daa.

(24,008 posts)Teacher doesnt leave an adequate lesson plan and you have to improvise. I had some kindergartners that I projected calming music with bubbles and they focused and did their work. When I went back a bunch of them asked me to play the bubble video on YouTube !

(71,388 posts)The real teacher's car had a computer meltdown as she was pulling out of her driveway.
I got a text from the district office seeing if I could make it. (I'm a preferred math sub at about 6 schools.)
I got there about 10 minutes late, but there was no sub plan.
The other math teacher for that grade & I sat down for about 5 minutes to see what topics they were working on.
I picked & chose from some worksheets, and just improvised all 5 classes.
Sometimes we just have to do what we have to do.
