I’ve had 4 eye surgeries before. So I’m kind of use to them. He also put in a stent for my early stage glaucoma. Dad had it but didn’t catch it early enough and died blind.
Nice follow up doc was very kind. Said you sure don’t look 75.

... to do this procedure. Mine was done at a VA hospital and I was awake all through the process. I believe I was given a Valium so I'd stay calm when they took a sharp object to my eye.

But to me even the second surgery has such a SciFi aspect to it as to be too interesting to feel anything but intrigued by the whole experience. Really makes miss that third eye I haven't seemed to accomplish - no doubt it'd have a worldly sort of cataract on it, too.

Glad you've managed to fight off the threats to your vision and even gained back some of the ground lost with this last surgery! I have a deadlock over which loss I would feel worst about: vision or hearing.

The follow up doc looked more like a Post Grad Student and pretty knowledgeable. Had good answers for all of my questions. I’ve fired many doctors. They work for me.

Had my cataract surgeries 3 years ago. After both surgeries my eyesight improved to the point that when I renewed by drivers license later that year, I passed the eye test. For the first time in 40 years I am not required to wear corrective lenses when I drive. Good luck with yours and I hope you get similar results.

They can make notable refractions, light defusion,etc.
Pissed me off no one told me before I got them. Had to look it up later.

It is amazing. Colors were so much clearer and brighter, which mattered to me as a painter. And no glasses, as you said, other than sunglasses. Apparently, some people can't use mono vision because their brains can't make the accommodation needed to handle it. Ironically, my ophthalmologist is one.

... up here in central Vermont it's been exceptionally fine, with little, itty-bitty flakes you can barely see. We've got an inch or so right now, but it's still coming down... I think.
I've got a cataract consult coming up. Not wild about anyone going after my eye with a scalpel. What if they have the hiccups? Well, I've been through worse.
There are glasses you can get that reduce the glare of night driving. I'm definitely getting a pair. At our age – I'm guessing you're gettin' up there, too – the pupil doesn't contract as quickly under bright lights, hence the glare and near blindness of driving in the dark. When I find the source I had saved before a power blip erased it, I'll let you know.

I found a study that found a correlation between poor eye sight and memory loss. Got that too.

... that I also wear when driving, but the prescription is old, so they need updating, but after the cataract procedure, I'm told.
My rate of retrieval has slowed, to be sure, especially for names, but I always had issues with that. I'm 2 years and change shy of 80, so I pay particular attention to such things. It runs in the family on my father's side. I just try to stay ahead of it by keeping the mind active.
What will be, will be, and other platitudes appropriate for such occasions.

Night time vision did improve a little. Sight recovery after bright light was much better. Always had light sensitive eyes…even getting ’sun sneezes’ that got slightly worse.
Everyone will have different results, my sister got a starlight effect from the oncoming car lights drove her nuts at first…got used to it quickly. Hope it all goes well for you.

Anywho…yes that snow was the whitest fluffiest stuff I’ve seen in a long time. It came from the east…Lake Huron water, not the nasty stuff from the other side.

my snow blower. Wife had to get out and drive to Clare for her home care job with a baby. That blower was a good investment.

No school so the kids were out … snow was going everywhere.

This was the easiest so far. Got a clear plastics cup to tape over it on the second day. My biggest worry was I might, not thinking, rub my eye. Tape it on at night, or I should say my wife the RN does it. They are expert tapers. Just take it easy for a week or so. Doctors Orders.
