Three shots, not the usual two, to get the party started. Now, some fizzy, bubbly Lambrusco.
Watching Excalibur, the movie that introduced me to the music of Richard Wagner and Carl Orff.
I still dig the movies surreal, Gothic vibe, the poetic moments of ancient magic, Arthurs submission to Uriens to make him a knight, that final, incredible sunset ending with Percival casting Excalibur back into the lake. The film is greater than the sum of its parts.
Looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
I love you all.

(12,336 posts)A great choice of music, despite the fact that the Nazis loved Wagner. Ironically, Director John Boorman also made an autobiographical movie, Hope and Glory, about his childhood experience during the Blitz.
What were your cocktails tonight ?
Cheers 🍷

(71,872 posts)Its impossible to say for sure what Wagner would have thought of the Nazis, anti-Semitic as he was. But even though he was a womanizer, Wagner had some very progressive views about women, which the Nazis did not share.

I've been doing crosswords. One of the clues was an ingredient in an Aunt Agatha, which turned out to be a cocktail. Made with Navy Rum, orange juice, pineapple juice and angostura bitters. Named after Bertie Wooster's scary aunt. Ever heard of this one?
Seems like the backstory of the cocktail names is as interesting as the recipes
Happy Friday!
