Beach water temperature 86. That’s hotter than it used to be

It’s been overcast most of the day so I guess that controlled the heat a little. Still very uncomfortable. I hate trying to sleep in this weather or with the air conditioner on. But I might have to tonight

up more.

but with a nice breeze and cloud cover because the afternoon rainy season has started up. we could sit out by the pool today in the shade and actually enjoy it.

I'm in San Diego, CA, about 2 miles northeast of downtown....basically right by the zoo. Currently its 74℉ at my house.

and this heat plus some rain is making my grass grow like crazy.
I am mowing every 3 days ugh. And I am in my 80's age bracket.

I gave up my job in mid-50's and started a regimen of walking 30 miles every week playing golf.
Within a year every one of my health issues disappeared! Now in my mid-80's no longer play golf,
but never miss daily exercise. Have zero health issues, knock on wood. Exercise trumps all medicines & supplements.

Really unusual weather for here this time of year. The temperature drops at night but not this much.

Last week it was in the 80s.

It's freaking hot.

Mind you, I came from Iowa in the ‘80s and it always felt like our summers there were brutal in comparison to what we found here. Everyone complains about the humidity but damn, I’d rather have my hair frizz than suffer through temps in the 100s in the summer. We rarely get far into the 90s here.

I remember when my sister got married—July 7 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA (NO A/C). It was 100-something and my brother had his shirt unbuttoned and a cold beer in hand before he was halfway out the door.

We topped out at 95° a couple hours ago.
Feels Like is 104 here, too.
Thing is, there's been a breeze all day, so it didn't actually feel as bad as that sounds.
I played golf really early so it was only around 85 when I got done.
I don't feel the humidity that the feels like suggests.

It wasn't as bad as I expected, though I wasn't out there more than 5 minutes at a time.
Puppy & I took a ride with the top down about an hour ago.
Was fine with the car moving.

We had a high of 86°, but the rains came through and now it is 78°. It's mango season and I'm stuffed so I'm especially glad for the afternoon coolness.

On a sad note my sister said that Bernie didn't make it to Amarillo today because of the Iranian situation. She had good friends who came in especially to see him.

If I had to choose either one to live in I'd choose Phoenix. I lived there for 11 months in the early90s and only turned on the air conditioner in my apartment twice, once when I moved-in and once when I moved-out just to make sure it worked. I've lived and worked in the California desert before and I have no problems with the heat.

For two years, I lived and worked in the Panhandle of Florida and humidity, along with the flying bugs, made the high temperatures unbearable.

shut us down for the day about 4:30pm. It's about 75 now as it comes up on 6pm and we're home.

97.7 heat index at 5:55 here, down to 93 now with an actual temperature of 84.

And you do the same. Going to be even hotter today. 🥵🥵

We had a storm go through earlier that helped. We’re under a severe storm watch until tomorrow morning.

Predicted high of 98 this afternoon. We have the house closed up and all the fans going and it's bearable in here. My barn cats have melted into puddles in shady spots. Josie (the bigger one) has staked out a spot on the porch where there is a cool updraft from below. Meg is either on the permanently shady concrete veranda of the workshop or down in the lily patch.

And "only" 90, for now, it has been getting up to around 94 with head index of 110 during this heat wave. 8 tomato plants in my garden and I haven't gotten a ripe one yet.
