(952 posts)At least he wasn't in The Wacky Races. But sometimes he would get conned into abetting some devious trick on other drivers by his owner Dick Dastardly. But the trick would always backfire. And when it backfired on him, he would grumble Massam Rassam Frassam, but if it only backfired on Dick Dastardly, he would snicker.

I have always had a very hard time with people who are prone to explosive anger, but seem somewhat sweet and gentle at times. I cannot trust them.

(510 posts)Of course, the artwork in Rocky and Bullwinkle is even worse, but the writing and the characters make up for it, making it my fave along with the classic Warner Bros. cartoons.
I also can't stand Casper the Friendly Ghost. And am so glad I was never much confronted with the Smurfs - I expect I'd root for the villains in it.
debm55
(61,251 posts)think about Casper. I liked him but not his cousin Spooky.

(10,276 posts)A lot of the Hanna/Barbera produced Tom & Jerry cartoons are actually pretty great. The Tom & Jerry cartoons won 7 Oscars for Best Animated Short between 1943 & 1953. Hanna/Barbera studios TV productions (started in 1957) were definitely not of the same quality as the Tom & Jerry shorts from the 40's & early 50's. Still they produced at least a few decent cartoons that hold up well. For example, In my opinion, The Flintstones and The Jetsons (it's original 1 season run in 1962-63) were both generally quality programs.

(72,420 posts)I didn't think he was funny. Like a lot of cartoon characters, he would mispronounce words for comedic effect. Bugs Bunny was a master of that, and he was always funny. "Look, lady; I ain't ya baby. It's a case of mistaken indemnity. Yeah..." or "Ah! This New Orleens! I t'ink I'll stick around for the Maddri Grass!"
Woody Woodpecker always made a big deal out of whatever word he was mispronouncing, as if to say "See how funny this is?' And it was never as funny as when Bugs Bunny did it, because Bugs didn't draw attention to it; he just allowed the mispronunciation to be funny on its own.

(457 posts)The bigwigs at CBS didn't want to risk creating a character and it not catching on so recycling popular characters from the past was the only was to get something greenlit. Imagine Tex Avery in his declining years pitching this crap.
In this episode, Mighty Mouse is sad/mad after staring at a picture of his lost love and getting beat up by a dragon. He pulls out a packet of powdered "flowers she had given him" pours it on the tail of the dragon he's fighting, snorts the flowers, picks the dragon up by the tail, spins it around a few times and launches it. Standards and Practices were not happy. The show was canceled shortly thereafter.
