I don't know if I will ever have anything else to say on our beloved DU? I am having difficulty processing everything at the moment.

(114,669 posts)It is hard to know what to say, and I don't doubt that shock has consumed you. I hope that you have family with you-- or coming-- or dear friends to be with you. If not, WE, the DU community, are here. Whatever we can do, just ask.
You are in my constant thoughts today, please know.

(18,690 posts)That's awful. Please don't worry about processing right this second. You feel what you feel. it will take time, maybe a lot of time to "process" it. God, that's just so sad. I'd say more but I don't know anything about your personal situation. Just please go easy on yourself. You've got to treat yourself with a ton of compassion during times like this. Remember there's no "right or wrong" way to go through what you're going through.
Post whatever you need to post.
Thinking of you and hoping you are okay. Do you have any support, from friends or family members, during this time?

After some time, maybe a long time, you can just recall the precious moments spent with your wife.
I lost both parents in 1999. They didn't cross that "date line"
After some time, I gathered up all the photos, slides and documents they left, and still need to get together with my brother and document all the wonderful and sometimes weird moments we spent with them. And that's on the to-do list.
Put the remembrance of wonderful times on your to-do list and know that this day, many people are sending you a virtual hug.

(6,068 posts)I must caution you to be extra careful taking care of your self, you are at increased personal risk for 6-12 months. Your whole routine has been upended and the risk won't subside until 6-12 months from now. It will seem very bleak once the initial goings on settle down, just remember it is best she isn't the one left behind and be glad you have to do that rather that the other way around. I know it sounds sappy but just be still and take it slow for awhile.

My wife and I were married in 1965, right out of high school and she stayed by my side through some very trying times. I sincerely believe you will heal with time and carry on your family tradition of progressive living in her honor.
Please let the DU family know if there's anything we can do.

(11,005 posts)Along with everyone else who has posted here, I send you my sympathy.
As many have said, you are in shock right now.
Be kind to your soul. And let yourself feel everything you are feeling. There is no right way or wrong way to go through this. There is only the way that you find for yourself.
We are here for you. 24/7. Always.

(55,521 posts)I have tears in my eyes (really) as I write this. What the hell happened? No need to respond....I am grieving for your huge and sudden situation and the shock is very real. My dad died suddenly in his sleep (he was healthy as a horse) 6 years ago. The grief never goes away for me, never!

(530 posts)to you for the many tough moments ahead.
It's hard to lose the love of your life, the person you chose and who chose you, to be there for each other 24/7.
May your beautiful memories and the people who show up to comfort you make your journey through unbearable grief a little easier everyday.
Years ago, I found this quote by Anne Lamott, and whenever I revisit it, I replace the first word 'Faith' with 'Grief'.
Faith includes noticing the mess, the emptiness and discomfort, and letting it be there until some light returns.

(22,240 posts)It is such a huge loss losing a partner in life.
My husband has been gone just over three years now and I'm still out of it in the head.
It seems once you accept the fact that they are not returning (at least in this life) you are able to start taking small steps, very small.
I wish you the very best and please take good care of yourself.
My condolences kentuck.

(17,630 posts)it is the hardest part of having a great blessing in our lives, the price we pay.
It helped me to see the pain as profoundly meaningful.
Too much for our hearts to bear, yet we must.
It is honoring her.
We weep with you.

No words need be spoken by you at this time.
But Words spoken by you, kentuck, would be sorely missed here in our DU community.
And, in time, I think you will again find words to share with us who share your sorrow (though not the depths of your grief).
Be strong, kentuck. Don't leave us.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
