Pretty soon I figured Santa was just being a dick, giving me packages of tube socks instead.

(26,740 posts)In NYC we passed by FAO Schwartz (famous dept store) that had really big sized stuffed animals in the windows!
Not sure which animal I wanted but I wanted one.
Looking back bc my mom often got really sick with asthma since I was 5 1/5. I'm thinking this would have been anxiety reducing - something big, and fluffy to hold on to.
Nevermind that I'd probably would have needed at least a queen-size bed to fit one on! 😄
But I did get other cool stuff over the years.

(505 posts)It was displayed one year in a store we frequented. Dang thing was a two-bed, one bath ranch style house, fully furnished and wired for electricity! It had wall lamps that took Xmas light bulbs, the big ones since mini lights hadn't come along yet. To play with it one took the roof off, and it took up a goodly amount of floor. Of course I didn't get it, this was about 1962 and the danged thing cost over $50! But I sure did want it!
