I have a 9 hour drive to do Christmas and birthday in Georgia.

I’m in WV right now for a family Christmas party and dinner. We role no later than 6 AM tomorrow morning to get my daughter back for work.

As for our Christmas at home, i have one gift left to assemble for my wife. I’m off until the 5th.

Our stress comes from my wife’s brother, who lives a thousand miles away, fell, broke his femur near the hip, and is not doing well. He is in ICU with complications. His son lives nearby, but the situation is grinding on my wife.

Rather than this rush and then it is over by 12/26 or 27. This time in December is supposed to be Advent with only preparations for the twelve day feast of Christmas.

I made an “advent like calendar” for a neighbor and I, counting down the days we have until Christmas is done. And both of us have 10 year olds, so this is an “adult” bit of fun. Not that I don’t appreciate Christmas - but this year was HARD for some reason.

We’re gonna make it, friends!

This year in particular has been so hard for so many.

Looking forward to a fresh start. At least psychologically.

2025 has worn me out.

Peace be with you.

I read that the year of the Horse is going to mean forward and progressive movement. I'd like to hope that's what 2026 will be. We could all sure use some positive happenings.

Had a nice luncheon with work friends on Friday.

Just finished a batch of Christmas cookies that I'll take, along with a lasagna, to a more informal gathering of friends tomorrow.

On Christmas Day, I'll drop by a neighbor's open house for tea and cookies and probably caroling.

That's it for me this year.

Oh, and watching a lot of football....

(Family is at a distance, and some not well enough to have guests, and I'm not into traveling by air to see the others.)

Wishing everyone a happy holiday!!

A few hiccups:

1. My youngest step-son had heart surgery on December 2nd. He's young but was born with a bad valve in his heart. He's doing great but it was a terrible time for this surgery to be scheduled right before the holidays.

2. I place artificial poinsettias in my Christmas tree. For some reason my tree looked a little sparse this year with the artificial poinsettias. I went to the dollar store and couldn't find any exact replacements. There was another customer in this store and she starts talking to me and suddenly start yapping about politics. It was weird and we didn't align politically. I made an excuse that it was getting dark and I needed to get home.

3. I sent a package (through USPS) to Indiana on December 8th. As of yesterday, it still hasn't arrived. The tracking says it's still in transit.

4. I sent another package (through USPS) to Indiana on December 16th. This package arrived at it's destination on December 19th.

5. Yesterday, I went to the post office to inquire about the package that I shipped on December 8th. They said that I was the third person that day to inquire about a package to be delivered in Indiana. They said that there's something terribly wrong with the Indianapolis USPS processing plant and that they don't even pick up the phone when regular post offices reach out to them.

6. I have to make holiday desserts for myself at some point today. I can't eat like everyone else and so all of my desserts are made with special ingredients.

7. I only have one job to do tomorrow so I will make and bake gluten contaminated and high carb homemade desserts for everyone else tomorrow after I get out of work.

I hope that you have a lovely and enjoyable holiday, malaise!
