At long last the songwriter admits to embellishments in his famous song. It turns out that the photographs weren't really color, after all.
I always suspected as much.

(4,187 posts)...sitting around my trailer house drinking coffee, smoking weed listening to Alice's Restaurant...can't even remember what was on the rest of the album, but I remember one of the guys we hung out with could recite the entire story word for word as we listened. I can't say those were the good old days, but there were some fun times in there.

(15,983 posts)I remember seeing him perform live in a small local pub (a place called Poor David's) back in the early 90s. His son was with him playing drums. At that time when you bought the tickets one was informed that he absolutely would not be playing "Alices Restaurant." I suppose he was burned out doing it.
It was a small bar and I recall standing right next to him in the men's during a break.

I actually got to have a sit down with several of them between sets. I wouldve love to had the same exxperience with Arlo, P P & M, Tom Paxton

(15,983 posts)It brings to mind seeing BJ Thomas in Omaha in 1974 at a small lounge underneath a motel. Ironically called The Observatory. I don't believe there was even a cover, just a drink minimum.
Nice intimate place destroyed in 1975 by the massive tornado that tore through the center of Omaha.
